Picking a selection in grouped object

Hi all,

 

I was just wondering is there a way to select individual objects in a grouped selection without ungrouping first ?? I also work with corel draw and I know that I can have a grouped number of objects click select them as one group or I can hold ctrl and pick individual objects with in the group.., is there something similar in 3dsmax ?

You can open and close the group. Open, work with individual objects; close, work with the group.

It is under the Group/ungroup option.

Or don't use groups (my preference). Instead I use linking, either to dummies, or the main part of the "group". Or use layers.

thanks for the replies,

I did some experimenting and I found a "Container" feature with in 3ds.. a very cool options to add groups , kind of like linking I think except you can lock it without the ability to farther edit individual objects until unlocked is initiated...

Very cool feature, you can also save individual container and import as needed...
