gabmass
guys Im on a very tight budget left for the VGA. I'm moving onto becoming a professional in Architectural Modeling 3Ds Max + Vray Rendering. cpu: i7-4930k / Hexa-Cores Ram: 16 GB Bus 1600 ----------------------------- so with few bucks left, I have to pick a VGA for 6 months until I get a GTX 760. In the meantime, is GT630 2GB DDR3 ok for me till then? (any other options at the same price???????) how would it react in viewport when I use enabled scene lights and shadow ? if this is in vain, so how is the idea of using my old GeForce 8500 GT (512 MB / DDR2 /128 Bit) ? rezk
I'm no expert, but looking at your processor/mem spec, I suggest you hold out for a better card, maybe a GTX 760 or better... Even though this all depends on what kind level of detail you get into with your architectural work, you'd be hard pressed to get much performance in 3dsmax with a GT 630 (which is not to say it wouldn't work, I'm sure it would) but if you get a good Kepler based GPU with a decent number of CUDA cores, you'd get excellent performance in VrayRT as well as the 3dsmax viewport. For now, your old GeForce 8500GT could work too but I'm not sure how long you'd be able to stand the performance bottleneck. I think a second hand GTX560Ti might also be an option you could explore for the time being. Hope this helps, good luck.
Chris MacDonald
In terms of performance per £/$, I'd opt for the i7 4770 and use the money saved to get a slightly better graphics card.
Dimitris Tolios
I would get a Radeon 7750. It is all around better than the GT630. Both cards don't really care about the "extra" 1GB (going 2GB over the base 1GB models), but in many cases that doesn't drive the price up (in some cases, 1GB models are more expensive than 2GB ones, at least here in the US market). If you don't plan on GPU rendering, I would say that there should be no rush switching to the GTX 760. As far as viewport goes, nothing much will change. Not really I have never tried GPU Rendering, I might give it a try later with the new system. or tomorrow I'll look into VrayRT features and differences. as for switching to GTX 760 or Quadro Series. --Switching actually from which graphic card? Radeon 7750 (have to buy) GT630 (have to buy) or my 512 MB - 8500GT ? Don't I have to worry about the viewport smoothness suppose I get GT630?
