gabmass
Hi there I'm buying a whole new system in Tehran, Iran. CPU i7-4930k (Hexa-cores) MB: Asus P9X79 LE RAM ????? what Brand do you suggest at average and reasonable market price ( I can't really say the budget because here is about 20-30% over priced and not in USD or Euro) ? just get the idea from below - 8GB - Bus 1600 MHz (not higher pls it goes way over budget) - able to be overclocked !!! //besides, how can I figure out the timing and the frequency it can get at most? for a better overclocking !! Motherboard supports up to 2400 MHZ bus. thanks to u all
numerobis
DDR3 1600 CL9 or CL10 is enough, maybe 1833 if it fits your budget. The CPU overclocking is independent from the RAM speed for all newer i7 (the ones with a four digit number) Personally i'm only buying corsair or kingston RAM since a few years. Before i had some systems with G-Skill, but since i had problems with some G-Skill sticks in an x58 board i have switched to corsair or kingston - no problems since then in 10 systems. I don't know for what you need the system, but personally i wouldn't build a render system for with less than 32GB today - or at least 16GB, if you only have smaller scenes. But this is a thing that only you can answer... I'm not sure about the P9X79LE concerning overclocking, it's the first time i hear about the LE... Normally i would say at least a P9X79 PRO or take an ASRock - they are cheap and good overclockers today, somtimes better than Asus. I'm currently running 7 rendernodes with ASRock boards, all overclocked - no problems so far. And the ASRock X79 Extreme4 with a 3930K@4,7GHz is booting much faster than the Asus P9X79 WS in my workstation. But you should buy a good PSU if you plan to overclock! And a good cooler.
