dominikmateasik
hello everybody i have a scene which contains HDRI/domelight as one and only light source, and have a geometry with VrayFastSSS2 material which reflects this HDRI map. The problem is that the reflection is jagged for some reason, have really no idea why. what i have tried so far: domelight - ramping up subdivs/resolution(of the map) vrayFastSSS2 mat - rampin up specular subdivs/reflection depth vray render settings - raising adaptiveDMC max subdivs/irradiance map detail enhancing on/global subdivs parameter/changing Area filter to MItchell even tried peter guthries tip of changing the domelight "resolution" parameter ($.dome_visibleOriginal=2) nothing seems to work attachments-the render,vrayFastSSS2 setings,Vray settings any help much appreciated! benjaminbogaert
If you are using vray and sometimes find that when using a vray dome light as a light source you get pixelated reflections of the sky, try this: Select your light and type the following in the MaxScript listener: $.dome_visibleOriginal=2 That comes from Vlado on the chaosgroup forum, he goes on to explain: It just controls when the dome texture will be evaluated fully and when the values will be taken from the pre-sampled version specified by the "resolution" parameter. The presampled version is calculated faster, but is jagged. A value of 0 means that the pre-sampled version is used always; a value of 1 means that the presampled version is used for GI and glossy rays, and a value of 2 means that the presampled version is used only for GI rays. 2 should probably be the default, now that we have it. http://www.peterguthrie.net/blog/2012/02/hdri-lighting-glossy-reflections/ Try this
dominikmateasik
thanks,as i said in the post i tried this one already though, didnt help (hope im doing it correctly),but the problem seems to be in vrayFastSSS2 material (dont ask why i used it on this geometry,no logic reason) since its not only HDRI map reflection that is jagged but the edge of the window frame as well,so it must be something else than hdri but anyway thank u for lookin into it and giving a hand:)
