Can't get right extrusion. Please help.

Hi. In the attached image you can see extrusion of holes but i want extrusion of border. Is it the way to implement it without booleans? Thanks. Sorry for noob qustion.

Did you extrude the solids from a spline? If so it should be a simple case of cloning the object as a copy, go back down the modifier stack to your original spline and attach the border spline.

I simply created border line and attached inside enclosed splines from which I want holes to be cut out. I checked shape and found border line is open. Strange, because I welded it before. For some reason I can't weld it..

Ah, ok. Maybe check all splines are definitely on the same level first. Failing that you may have to redraw the splines. You could also try doing an edit poly on the splines then extrude or shell to get the height.

Well..I found the problem. Lines were imported from autocad and it there were overlapping lines which were treated as a single spline in max. Thanks for your feedback!

Shape check is a good tool for finding those sort of problems. You can find it under Utilities tab.
