Stan Zaslavsky
Hi all, We're at the stage now that it would be great to have some more staff inhouse that we could mentor from ground up. Does anyone have experience with connecting with universities and attracting either graduates or those still going through their courses? Also what about an induction program - any tips on that? Thanks in advance
Scott Schroeder
Usually you can either talk to the department head of a particular program, or prof, or you can contact the universities employment placement office. There are a few levels of internship you can offer, at least based on my experiences in the US. I think some internships can offer course credits, you can have unpaid interns (Whooo! Free labor to rename all of your texture files), and then the classic paid intern. Most places I've been at have alumni from the various universities to reach out to former teachers and staff they know.
Stan Zaslavsky
Thanks Scott for the reply. I've tried going back to my university dean - but he's been pretty much impossible to get through and this after I bumped into him elsewhere and he was very welcoming and saying to drop past. So not sure the next steps on that - but I might just have to walk in on him The university employment placement office is a great idea - I'll check these ones out through LinkedIn perhaps. Thanks again,
