joneberhardt
greetings cga members.. so this will be real tricky to explain but i'm going to give it a shot. i set up a standard material - the bmp is jpeg - i copied over to the self-illumnation channel map as well. finally - i use a opacity map. the 1st image shows the result. however - the quality is poor - so i redesigned it at a higher resolution (and as an png) followed the same steps - but there are issues. the resolution is far better - but - you can see that the pattern is random broken up! i haven't a clue why. any suggestions out there? thanks in advance! jon

joneberhardt
okay - it's resolved.. i increased the intensity of the white areas - and now it renders fine.. the orig was a light grey and rather dull - some reason with that - max/mental ray wasn't picking up all the finer details..
