John Dollus
I'm organizing a 3 day architectural rendering conference in Dallas next year and wanted to ask the membership here what sort of topics you feel are most beneficial? This can be anything from architectural tours, classroom workshops, business seminars, inspirational TED talk type lectures, meet and greets with designers, informal happy hours, etc.
RyderSK
I've been twice to Venice Archviz conference/workshop (2days), which I think is very decent and popular here in Europe, and I am always bit dissapointed to see focus so much on the actual work only or (and this I HATE, although some people truly enjoy it ?!!?!) software marketing ( I do NOT care if it's Vlado himself or main programmer from Maxwell,etc...), stuff that I can find on google in 5 minutes. I believe it should be much more about true networking and discussion should be encouraged (not discussion about how to use Forestpack or Vray) about state of market, SOFT SKILL, etc. Anything beneficial and inspiring. Less pretending about life of poor artists (which is full internet of) and more about bussiness (something people avoid discussing in public/internet). John Dollus
Wow, so there seems to be very little interest from this group in a physical location to meet and learn anymore? I'm fairly disappointed that a question about how to setup gamma in Max gets a lot more input.
Tommy L
I'd be very interested to meet, network and generally geek out about 3d with like minded people. I work on my own most of the time and get a little myopic... So far as suggestions for content, I'd like to hear from industry leaders on where ease of use/in house capabilities are heading for 'push-button' rendering, mainly so I know what to try NOT to sell, if that makes sense. I'd also like to hear about cloud pipelines from people who are using it in production. If you could pull in someone who worked on one of recent years major arch-vis projects, maybe the WTC by DBox or some thing similar, to talk about their production values, pipeline, project challenges that had to be overcome etc that would be nice. I share the sentiment that I dont need to hear from salesmen, more from artists. Although sometimes the beta testers are less available than the sales persons for the bleeding edge stuff. Also, it may be nice to hear from clients! That would be a new one, stories from the other side of the fence. They are the guys that pay the bills after all. They are the guys that pay the bills after all. This is very genial idea in fact, I like that a lot.. esp in conjunction about someone from big side of projects that you mention. So if both parties from project like WTC by DBOX could come and share their thoughts that would be really great and helpful.
Nic H
Id like to go to something. As Juraj / Tom says anything that is software marketing / 'how to use multiscatter' / or how I made 'house in the woods V.476 doesn't interest me that much. There is a weird conference where you get a 'I can use vray medal' as well...not into that! Id be interested in something that was based on architectural representation but also included speakers from outside of the industry that also work on 'environmental representations' - be it film environments, sculptors or video art. The idea being to broaden the scope and mediums that we could work in. The idea of having clients may OK if they are not architects! Having good speakers from the larger more established studios that work on larger more logistically challenging jobs is also key.

Justin Hunt
I'd like to hear thoughts on project/client management both from a studio and in-house perspective. Maybe an open forum type discussion with a panel of industry leaders. and most importantly, how to convince my boss to pay for me to attend. Scott Schroeder
Can you get Mike Monteiro to speak? In all seriousness, I think an open discussion about freelancing/contracts/getting clients would be quite beneficial since that is always a good topic on these boards. It would be nice to hear from up and coming artist/studios as they are facing a whole different set of challenges that those who have already established themselves. Especially those who started out post economic downturn. Mostly I'd just like to meet other artists and pick their brains.
John Dollus
Thanks for the great suggestions. I'll be working through the holidays to flesh out some of the programs and options so this has helped immensely. Keep the suggestions coming!
