Worth getting refurbished Windows 7?

I've been looking to save some money on a copy of Windows 7 pro when I build my new computer this month and have found some companies selling refurbished copies (some are Microsoft Authorised) and you save like 50% on the price.

Here's one example.

But the site has no reviews and I'm not sure how trust worthy it is. Anyone have any experience in this department? I just hate having to pay as much for my operating system as I am for my graphics card.

Would you really fall for scam like that ? On a website like that ?

This is how refurbished PC's licences work, there is no such thing as "refurbished licence" that can be installed on whatever computer whatsover.

I would suggest buying OEM version (from normal retail not "nice-software-scam-found-randomly-on-google.com" ) which are much cheaper although they bind to the HW once installed.

Look at Amazon for current OEM deals:

But really, you should buy 8.1 ;- )

No it's fine, keep 7 if you like it :- ) It will be alive and supported for quite a long time.

I think W8.1 is aquired taste, I now almost can't live without the Metro, for me it's actually helpful even on desktop. The whole system is "snappier", tad bit faster, cleaner and I enjoy the graphic visual. I also own Win8 phone (Lumia 1520) and tablet (2520) and I like the fact it all looks and behaves the same. There is no software incompability that I know of.

One word of advice though, make sure you buy the version that suits you, with 8.1 it's easy (it's the pro for those who want advanced network features, and regular for everyone else) with 7 there are quite few versions. What should be a deal-breaker is imho the network features, of which I mostly mean "Remote desktop connection" that's native in Windows and extremely handy in accesing nodes in network from master workstation. The basic windows version don't have this feature so you have to go with after-market solutions which are more robust, but not that fast from my experience.
