EOD
Hi All I am working on my 1st Exterior Visualisation and i need to add Trees/Bushes/Foliage. To reduce the polygons in my scene i want to reproduce these using mr proxy objects. The problem i 'm having is how do i apply materials to these objects? could somebody point me in the right direction (a tutorial or video clip) on how to do this. Many Thanks
Francisco Penaloza
The whole trick is to setup your object before you make it proxy, so if it is a tree, you take your tree model, apply different ID to each part that needs to be separated materials (Leaf, Trunk, Branches), then collapse the whole thing, and assign a multi-object material. Then create your proxy out of that mesh and you are ready to go. To create my library of objects what I do is save a Max file with the proxy tree and the original in a file, then I merge this file in my new scene and it load with materials and all, ready to use. blank...
Then create your proxy out of that mesh and you are ready to go. Note: all that is left is to apply that same material to the proxy just created. It doesn't matter that mesh had material applied, proxy will be naked.
