craigmonroe1
If I edit an OBJ after importing it into another scene, the model becomes oddly deformed. The smoothing groups make appear that way at least. What am I doing wrong? Perhaps I should uncheck optimize normals? Does it have something to do with the precision value at 4? himanshuchoudhary
Does this error also happen when you are importing obj from a software such as rhino? Also, i would suggest you to use presets built within max for perticular softwares.. Helps a lot when exporting obj files
Zdravko Barisic
This is probably NURBS object which is imported? That causes problems, in the NURBS, command panel, there may be some settings for tessalation, before converting to poly, and adding smoothness... Good luck!!! craigmonroe1
Does this error also happen when you are importing obj from a software such as rhino? I've imported other peoples models to study them and not change them so I don't know. Usually, it's my own work giving me the problems. Exporting as an FBX seem fine and doesn't have issues like this. In fact, the FBX file size is often smaller. I may just start using that over OBJ. This is probably NURBS object which is imported? I use NURBS to see smoothing previews and will often collapse it to keep modeling the details. Upon export it's just a regular editable poly with no modifiers or anything else on. Should I be using mesh smooth instead? Turbo smooth?
