M V
Do folks still use Frischluft for post DOF or are you just using the Photoshop filter?
Nicolai Bongard
Ive never tried the Frischluft plugin, so i am stuck at the function Photoshop has. Sometimes, when stuff gets blurred wrong/weirdly you just have to render out elements seperately and then blur them. So photoshop can sometimes be a pain. Not sure if the Frishluft gets rid of the blurring errors completely. Whenever you have the time for it, you should try to go for the depth of field from your render camera, as it usually will look better anyway, unless you have some weird camera settings. RyderSK
Frischluft is still the best option for AE at the moment that I am aware of, although the tools in Nuke are nice, I'm not interested in such robust soft for my meager needs. For PS, the Frischluft is kinda funky to use, but it's not like the PS native lens tool is any better. It's still unparalled comparison, the flexibility and slightly higher quality still speaks for Frischluft Lenscare.
Nic H
we use lenscare in fusion extensively and its pretty good, especially the ease in which you can animate it. you cant push it too far though as you will get aliasing at a certain point on your edges especially high contrast ones. for those super close up amateur hour shots in arch vis where you have on a flower on the table and then pull focus to the rest of the room you are best using in camera blur. vray shade map can speed this up significantly. RyderSK
vray shade map can speed this up significantly. I only looked at the tutorial on how to do this some time ago and gave up immidiatelly. So many additonal steps just so I can speed up DOF rendering...duh. Not for me.
