hoseinasadi Posted January 20, 2014 Share Posted January 20, 2014 after i assigned materials to walls , they turned black and i have no control over the texture in viewport unless i hit render everytime id want to modify them which is not logical at all. im using 3ds max 2010 64bit. is this a software bug ? cant it be fixed? The viewport updates to show the sub-material assigned to the selected faces. The material ID values in the Multi/Sub-Object material and the material ID numbers in the Select Face rollout correspond. If you set the ID to a number that doesn't correspond to a material contained in the Multi/Sub-Object material, the faces render as black." Maybe that.
