Taskbar in Windows 8.1 crashes

Hello,

 

I am having a problem with my windows 8.1. Sometimes the taskbar crashes and I cannot click on the start button and the charm bar stops working (doesn't appear when I hover the mouse over the left pane). I can still click and run the application icons but I can't click and select a wifi connection when I click on the network icon.

 

I downloaded updates to windows in the hope of fixing it but it still occurs.

 

Attached is a screenshot of the tasbar when it crashes.

 

 

 

 

 

Attached is also a screenshot of the start menu when this occurs (I pressed the windows logo key to go to the start menu because the button isn't working when I click on it). Its kinda bit zoomed in.

 

 

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
