P.R.S. Sivakumar .
Hello everybody This may sound like a stupid question. Any way, i am asking it. I made a blunder by purchasing Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 (at a very special discount - here in India) and through subscription I now have 2014 version. As per the requirements of Autodesk, for 3ds Max Design 2014, one should have Windows 7 / 8 64 bit only & with a Xeon processors & with Nvidia Quadro or Equal Graphics card. What I have is a humble desktop - Core i3 3rd generation with 3 GB RAM & with a GeForce 480 1 GB Video card. I am running the BDS 2013 on this ! (not much of Revit & Max - mostly AutoCAD) Now i would like to use Max Design also. My Visualizations - which I get done in house (I have a SOHO setup) are quite simple. Will this 3ds Max Design 2014 run at all on my system? I have not yet installed it. Will I be doing gross injustice running it on my present system? I am not giving it a trial run for fear of spoiling my existing installation of BDS 2013 Premium. Thanks in advance. PRSS
Dimitris Tolios
If you have a 64bit OS, it should load. 3GB of RAM are grossly limiting, but...it might still run (tho it asks for 4GB). CPU and GPU are fine, been running (lets say using, so that we don't imply pace) 3DS in laptops much slower than your desktop just fine(tho with more memory). Guest dialog
If you intend on doing any serious commercial architecture work or even moderately sized residential projects, that station will not cut it.
P.R.S. Sivakumar .
Thanks a lot for the replies. I think it is time to go for a workstation - considering the money I paid for the BDS Premium package and its subscription cost, I should not be skimping on the hardware - I realize.
