Processor problem

Recommended Posts

My hesitation is due to the fact that I'm going from a Quadro 6000 to a 5000, I feel like I'm already giving up some display performance in order to keep the cost of the system below $8K. $300 isn't that much but I need some justification for asking for it beyond the ideal situation which I agree would be ideal ;)

Is the old machine "rotated" to other staff?

I would not consider replacing a the 6000 just yet, it is holding up fine.

You could keep the 6000 for the new 2P, and drop a lower tier Quadro or Firepro in the old one, unless you feel that you have-to-have high-end quadros office wide...

The 6000 has been the single biggest disappointment in terms of a hardware purchase I've ever made. I expected Nvidia's top of the line card to perform better than their mid level cards but it hasn't, when I first got it I spent about 3 months going back and forth with Nvidia trying to figure out why it was so slow. After everything they told me that it was running correctly and there was nothing they could do. Even now after several years of driver updates and 2 different version of Max the display performance is probably a 7 out of 10. I pray that the 5000 will perform better and at half the price of the 6000 I feel a little better about the purchase.
