laptop memory

Recommended Posts

Hey, i bought a new laptop (toshiba A60-302) with standard 256 MB ram in it. Today i was checking the system for flaws, en i sax that there was only 192 Ram built in. I ckecked double with de XP system tab, and then with FreeRAM, the freeware from bysoft. both showed the same result.

Now i know that memorymodules can difference a little, but 64 MB RAM? Should i contact the shop, of is this a common thing?

thnx,

if they sold it to you as 256 then 256 it should be.

goto START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > SYSTEM and that should tell you the amount of RAM installed. Also, to be absolutely sure, look at the amount of RAM you physically have installed underneath the laptop.

also, there isn't 'standard' ram. check the exact settings on what RAM you already have before adding to it. specifiically the pin settings. i got a toshiba laptop and found that unless the RAM was absolutely correct for the computer it just wouldnt work
