steinmeland
Anyone managed to get Snowflow to work well on trees? I have problems getting a realistic snow-surface sticking to the branch and pine needles. Thanks in advance Stein Inge
Chris MacDonald
I remember seeing someone doing a tutorial for manually creating snow on leaves that actually looked pretty good, and wasn't as time consuming as you might think. Will see if I can find it. Here it is; I'm sure using this technique and refining it a little you could produce some very realistic snow in no time at all. steinmeland
Thanks a lot, I will try this method, seems to be much easier than hours with try and fail with Snowflow :-)
Nicolai Bongard
Not sure what the tutorial linked to as i am at work and apparently theyve blocked youtube, but for the pine needles you could make a mixmap with a fallof from the top to the bottomn, and mix between the pine material and the snow material, so that the pine needles are white on the top and green below. For the branches and tree trunk you could perhaps try the blobmesh method on ramy hanna's blog. Another method to make snow on the branches is simply making a copy of the branch/trunk mesh and moving it a couple of millimeters up, all depending on the minimum thickness of your branches, and giving it a snow material.
