Zdravko Barisic
Hi, I've got a series of ACAD files, with referenced external references, with HVAC works. It is a bunch of pipes, etc...with no meaning to me at all. And it is very very huge! ... So, I have to make some proper normal workflow to insterting it MAX. 1. Exporting from ACAD to what format? FBX? DXF? IGES? 2. Importing it to MAX directly? But what happens with references? ... If someone has expirience with this kind of work, it would great! ... Thanx! Guest dialog
Best way is to bind all the xrefs in CAD... then import into max
Zdravko Barisic
Thanx Desmond, I found that too, it is the best way. ... Is there some special settings when importing solids? I mean tessaletion, etc...?
Guest dialog
I Usually leave them on default settings. I find %100 of the time whoever did the drafting did a horrible job in the details (as most of the time these details dont need to be thought out when doing construction drawings for a print and they may look nice...but come VIZ time its a nightmare). After I bring it in, I have found that if you add them all to a layer and group them, you will have better luck with viewport performance (The downside is that you have lost all the colours and layers). Make sure they have come in at the right scale as well. Not sure what the practice of some places are out there...but scaling issues will most certainly come up at some point.
