notamondayfan
I was just browsing amazon for something totally different and I stumbled over the Leap Motion https://www.leapmotion.com/ Now if my (shocking) memory is correct, there was quite a hype over this about a year ago, and how it was going to revolutionise the way we use our PCs, but unless I'm really missing something, it hasn't really developed into anything at all, which I'm kind of sad about. Perhaps / hopefully I'm wrong, and it's being used everywhere, and I'm the only mug left with a keyboard and mouse?! Anyway, just thought I'd start the discussion....... Scott Schroeder
It died when people realized the Microsoft Kinect was a USB device and worked directly in the PC and was cheaper.
notamondayfan
hhmmm, but I thought the main selling point with the Leap Motion was the crazy level of accuracy. I can see how developers might favour the Kinect over the Leap Motion, but for everyday users the Kinect isn't really much good.
jordanp
If it's more accurate then the Kinect then I'd want it for scanning purposes... I think the real issue is lack of development. No one has made anything that really uses this...

Lets say for example, inside of 3ds Max or any other Archviz purpose ?

Imagine being able to "grab" your model and sculpt. Also I'd love to see something inside Max for modelling, viewport navigation, etc. Then there's the interactive side of things, I would imagine a combo of an Oculus Rift headset and a Leap Motion would be a pretty impressive combo. Oh wait, Dean beat me to it (kinda ) xD Edited February 25, 2014 by jordanp
