terryk
Hi, I am completely new to SketchUp; however I will be learning SketchUp in school starting April, I would like to get a head start. I was wondering if anyone knows any good tutorials I could start off with? I tried the tutorials from the SketchUp website, but I would like to know if there are beginner tutorials more architectural / interior design related. Thanks in advance. M V
If you dont have an account on SketchUcation, get one! The plugins area is free. There are so many useful plugins here, I couldn't even start to tell which ones are great. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=250026 A few I use all the time Fillet RoundCorner BezierTools Component Sprayer (great for landscaping) CleanUp PipeAlongPath Here is a site with pay scripts. Instantroof is worth paying for just in the time you will save. It's incredible. http://www.valiarchitects.com/ 1001 bit tools is worth paying for to just in the modeling time it will save. I love the battens tool, joists, and louvers. I use this just about every day. http://www.1001bit.com/pro/ Last one, totally worth about $5million bucks. Now you can make a sweep and swap it out with a different profile! http://www.smustard.com/script/ProfileBuilder That Smustard site is a good site for pay plugins too. It's really about your workflow and what tools you think will help you save time. YouTube is an invaluable resource for videos on How To SketchUp. Go to the official page and start there. Good Luck, you are about to have a lot of fun.
Eliot Blenkarne
1001bit is freeware now AFAIK
M V
1001bit has a free and a pro version. If you are using pro you should support the developer and PAY for it. It's insanely useful and it has saved me countless hours of modeling time. Plus, it's only $19 for a student version. Small price to pay.
