alessandro.eu
Hi, after three years I have to change my NAS (Iomega ix2-200). Both hd have errors so I think is better to change the NAS itself. Was looking to QNAP TS-421 http://www.qnap.com/en/index.php?lang=en&sn=822&c=351&sc=514&t=522&n=18377 Synology DS414 http://www.synology.com/en-global/products/overview/DS414 Do you have any experience with these brands? Any suggestion? Also other models. thank you! Alessandro
Dimitris Tolios
There has been a discussion with some input around Synology NAS some time ago: http://forums.cgarchitect.com/73522-graphics-card-nas-advice.html Take a look till someone is able to give you more info on the specified models and whatnot. Jonathan Sanchez
I have a synology 712 (i believe it's been discontinued and replaced with a 713) and I love it. Quick, quiet, reliabhle and lots of nice features. I have an external drive hooked up to it and automatically backs up my stuff every night
alessandro.eu
@ Dimitri: thank you for the link. I've tried to use the search function on the forum but doesn't seem to work you told you wanted to buy a nas, did you? @ Jonathan: thank you for your reply. Seems that Synology is a standard for NAS. I still have a doubt about hd replacment. Iomega support told me that "officialy" I should replace an hd with the same model (brand, capaciy and speed) but after few years is difficult (if not impossible) to find the same exact model. My seller told me that I could repalce it with another brand and speed. As I would like to buy a 4 bay NAS with only two hd at the beginning I'm wondering if I will have problems to add/change different hd in the future. Anyone using QNAP?
