tylerl
Any comments on how to improve this render? I'm a student at Boston Architectural College taking 3dsmax for the first time.
Corey Beaulieu
That's a cool shot. A Good start to Max for sure. The 3 things I notice that could help the render are: 1. The lights are burning small spots in the reflections. if you go into the Modify tab of the lights, you will find a menu called "Advanced Effects" where you can un-tick specular and keep the light value, but ditch the burn. (This May be a this camera only thing) 2. The Chair looks like it has a marble texture... I think those are typically a Leather. Just sayin' 3. You should consider a Lens Blur in Photoshop for depth of field. Something where you keep the chair and general foreground in Focus, but then blur the background softly or vice-versa. this would be common for a "real" camera. It can't general focus on 2 depths at once so either the Chir or the Background would be out of focus. Nice Job though. Especially for your first time out. tylerl
The material for the chair was an aged leather so it had those cracks you see in worn leather but there is a strange reflection on it that is giving it a awkward look. I had rendered a image of just the chair and it looked much better so I'm not sure where this went wrong. I swear I wouldn't make a marble chair....
