lalaafga
When im doing my renderings, the final gather goes at normal speed but then when it hits 65ish % it comes to a halt, the cpu usage goes down to 10% and nothing happens. its quite a heavy scene with 230 ies lights, FG no gi, some glass and glossy surfaces. Im running a hexcore 3.7ghz, 64gb ram.. i figured that would be enough. The same thing happends if i try the scene on a different computer. unfortunatley cant upload the scene as its work in progress, but has anyone ever bumped into the same/similar issues? marius e
Yes, couple of times......render size might be too large.....scene to heavy......to many lights......material settings to high.....render settings to high....
Matt McDonald
Does the mental ray message window say anything? How long have you waited for it to move forward? Minutes? Hours? Is it always stopping in the same portion of the image? Could be a material or geometry issue. Try placing an override material on everything and re-rendering, then try turning your lights off and re-rendering, then try removing the geometry from the affected region and re-rendering. lalaafga
it always stopped at the same spot, irregardless. Turns out that it was too much geometry i suppose as it worked when i switched over to BSP2. atleast thats what i assumed as it said it worked better with more geometry, taking forever to render though but atleast its working. no time pressure which is good
