3dfabrique
Hi I'm trying to uvwunwrap a 1/8th part of a globe in 3ds max. When I try to edit the uvw for the partial globe, the geometry doesn't fit the extents of the texture map and I'm struggling to get to fit exactly. see the attached image. I can scale by hand but not precisely to the same size as the texture map. I've tried using "tools/Pack UVs", but this still leaves a small part of the texture not covered. Anyone got any ideas on how to do this ? thanks
jasonstewart
I would do a planar map (uncheck normalize) and then relax it so it is not stretched. Check your current UV with a checker texture, it is stretched out for sure. It should be sort of triangular not square. After that is done you can pack it and line it up with the section of your texture you want to use.
