stayinwonderland
I'd like to render out reflections/spec separately (which is fine, using render elements) but when I turn off reflections globally in vray, I still get what looks like specular in the main render. Is there a way to turn it all off so the result is just matte or does that the result of combining several other passes (GI, shadows, etc.)? If so which ones and how are they combined? Cheers. Scott Schroeder
Diffuse render element will give you a straight diffuse look.
Stephen Thomas
Try turning off glossy effects.
stayinwonderland
Thanks... Hmm, afraid neither of those worked. DiffuseFilter gives an unlit pass. The closest thing was the global illumination pass with all reflections turned on so I could get those seperately in passes. So now I need to know which passes to add in order to replicate my rgb. I've added (with GI as the base) spec and reflection and lighting but I guess I need a more full explanation of which layer order to add them in and what to set the transfer mode to, as the combination of just those elements doing the job. Scott Schroeder
Well if you want to re-create a full render from elements you need to use the items that make it up. Diffuse, reflection, specular, light, shadows and GI at the bare minimum. You'll probably have to play with either using multiply/screen/soft light/ and overlay to get the exact combination you want. stayinwonderland
Cheers, I guess I'll just play around with it.
