simplycreative
Hello , I am working in max after a long time(of working in maya) now. Can anyone suggest any method - script/plugin which will allow me to break up my renders into layers (just like we use in maya). I am finding the native method of max rendering a little non flexible !! Thanks
Nicolai Bongard
I am not sure how it works in maya. Do you mean render elements? As in seperate passes for reflection, refraction, diffuse etc...? And what are you using to render in 3ds max? Scanline, mentalray, vray or something else?
simplycreative
Yes Nicolai- I'm aware of Render Elements but that will break the scene into specular, reflection etc. together with all the objects at same time. I am trying to achieve the same while i can split my scene objects as well in separate layers - so i get separate reflection, diffuse etc. for object A and object B resp. at the same time. alessandro.eu
something like this? http://www.cebas.com/index.php?pid=product&prd_id=151&feature=1325
John Dollus
you can add either material ID or Object ID to your render elements to create that utility pass if you are using the scanline render engine. Use the resulting image as a mask on top of the various other global passes to knock out what you need in post.
