Corey Beaulieu
This seems like you were thorough in gathering the tasks that need to be completed, but not in how they need to go together. Without giving you the full how-to I would simply suggest that you remember that regardless of planning, things change and a production line needs to be flexible. One of the ways that the studio I work for stays flexible and able to adapt along the way is by completing the project beginning to end with increasing levels of quality and polish. We definitely go through a discovery phase where we figure out what data we have and what we need, but once there is enough to go on we start treating the project like it is, to some degree, complete at every check in. This allows us to place the emphasis where it is needed most and most important to the client. It would be a terrible thing to spend a lot of time on a shot only to have a client request it be taken out, or to purchase music only to have them hate it. On the post-production side of things, we generally wait to create a really fine quality of color grading, but otherwise comp files are being created and a workflow is being established so that on the final delivery day when things are hectic, everything is piping into the right place and updating is more of a procedural task.
