hockley91
On July 27, 2010 I had an extremely unique opportunity to ask Joseph Kosinski some questions at Siggraph in Los Angeles. Tron: Legacy was not even out yet. It was awesome talking to the director of Tron: Legacy. He has a degree in Architecture and I complimented him on his transition to Film. If you watch his films like Tron and Oblivion you can see still that Architecture plays an enormous role in his films...thought I'd share my notes after I spoke with him... I can decipher if it's hard to read....some people have been telling me they can't read it...
RyderSK
All very valid. Read once very much identical answer (to the question whether architectural education influenced later career) from a famous local architect turned scenographer. But I enjoyed how you circled the only 'practical' bit [21mm lens] :- D
hockley91
But I enjoyed how you circled the only 'practical' bit [21mm lens] :- D They were saying that they were getting better results with 3D using that lens when they were filming the movie. I also met Ed Catmull in the hallway. Couldn't believe it! We were actually in the hallway standing against the wall next to each other. Someone walked up to him and gave him a CD (which I'm sure he tossed later). But, then I realized "Holy Smokes!" I've been standing next to him for 5 minutes!!!!! Then I started talking to him and he was very generous with his time. He was going to give a talk and we were waiting for the previous session to end. I asked him one VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION!!!! What set Pixar apart from the early 80's computer groups like Triple-I and MAGI since they failed in the long run. He had one answer "STEVE JOBS". If it wasn't for his financial backing then they would have tanked. He said Pixar was such a struggle at the beginning. Even John Lasseter was going to leave he said. But, he had to talk him out of it.
