3ds to autocad

so here i am with the 3ds model and i want to bring it into autocad to cut sections, take elevations, but when i export 3ds, i dont get all my geometries and it cant find the maps.

 

can someone teach me the way?

Try to export as a .dwg and see what happens.

 

The mapping technique that Autocad uses is different and somewhat archaic compared to 3D Studio Max. The mapping doesn't translate.

 

If you are already familiar with 3D Studio, why don't you stay in that format and use the "slice" modifier for your sections?

 

I don't understand why you want to bring your model into autocad. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you want to layout your CAD drawings a certain way? And that you have better control of layout in Autocad? I usually model the other way around...

Ever tried a camera with a clipping plane?

i want to do it in order to get architectural drawings from my model. drawings are needed to explain the project as well as a model and i dont want to redraw the things that i have just modeled when i thought i didnt have to.

Try using .dxf to transfer... Guess I'm confused since I do the exact opposite: "architectural drawings" and modeling in cad then 3ds....

if i do that. i dont know how to cut sections. using the slice too, it says it reads no solids.

 

the reason i do this, is because i design in 3d in max.
