guenther Malek
i´ve been working on that image for several days, and having problems with the grainy floor. the scene is illuminated by DefaultVraySky through 15 skylight portals and by 25 Photometric lights. - first i thought it had to do with the glossiness. played with samples, interpolation, bounces... - then i tried everything with GI, turning settings up and down. - i increased the samples of the ies-lamps and of their shadows. did not help. After turning off all Lights and GI, I found out it had to do with the Skylight portals in the doors. so i cranked the samples up to 128...256...512. finally at 512 samples i got rid of the grain, but rendering time increased by 8x... :-(((( does anyone have an idea how to fix that grain in a different way. Devin Johnston
You probably need to do a combination of increasing the material & light subs as well as decreasing the noise threshold.
jasonstewart
Setup some render elements so that you can tell where the noise is coming from and address the issue directly. Reflection, lighting Probably split it up into the photometrics and the skylights), gi, etc. will be very useful for this. My guess would be the material reflection samples need to be increased.
