Jeff Mottle
What you want is called object VR. I use VRtoolbox for all my stuff. You can buy the entire package or just buy ObjectWorks. To create your own in max, just link a camera to a circular spline and render as many frames as you want images around the object. Then import into Objectworx and create your QT Object movie. You can also render in multiple planes too so you can go above and below an object.
mbr
I am rendering one this minute that has a rotating camera. You can do it in Max without a plugin, just go to Utilities > More > Panorama Exporter > RENDER > File > Save As > Quicktime.
