liorsturlesi
Hi, For some reason i can't chamfer edged after importing my model into max from sketchup. Edges are created but don't really chamfer the corners. Is it possible to do it inside the 3dsmax ? Thanks...
Sauger
You can chamfer the imported model if rightclick on it, then select edge mode, then select desired edges right click chamfer. I suppose you should rightclick and convert to editable poly first though. Strange that the chamfers disappear, I use the "round corner" sketchup plugin a lot since it imports fine to Max with same vertices amount as Max chamfer. liorsturlesi
I tried exactly that in 3dmax but it adds the edges without cutting the corners....
numerobis
did you try to weld the model?
liorsturlesi
Oh...great it works after welding in max. Is there a way bringing it already welded into max from SU ? Thx numerobis...
salvador
Make sure your SU geometry is tight and solid. I suggest a plugin called Solid Inspector by Thom Thom (great plugin). Nonetheless you might get un-welded vertices. As a rule of thumb, every time I import SU in Max, I convert everything to EPoly and upon first selection for each object I weld vertices and clear smoothing groups where necessary. Takes only a few seconds. Edited April 25, 2014 by salvador
