renderingdesigner
some 3d models are hard to find?. Many of us have used external 3d models in our projects. Many sites offer a variety of these, some free, some not. Sometimes we find what we need and then we need to model ourselves. * In your work experience, what type of 3d models have been harder to come?. For example ... I have had trouble finding 3d models for wall decoration, playgrounds and kids. What about you? Regards
Corey Beaulieu
Things that are hard to model tend to be hard to find, go figure. Looking for a simple couch or chair, one based on a noisy box, you'll find hundreds of options, but if you are looking for a more unique one, something round or classic even, nothing. If I am going to pay for a model, it better be high poly and very detailed.
notamondayfan
Probably items that have just come to the market, new furniture, latest trends, etc. Also soft furnishings, cushions, beds, throws, etc.
Scott Schroeder
Your average person's style of furniture. A lot of the collections out there are hyper modern stuff that 95% of the public think are uncomfortable monstrosities.
vincentg87
Bed models with good textures. For furnitures like chairs, tables, and lightings, I would usually reverse search the image (chose by interior designers) using google images, and hopefully find the model on the furniture website. This often requires you to register on the website before you could download 3d files from their website.
Reitveld
I once had a client who wanted a small child in the foreground with a slingshot hanging out of his hip pocket and wearing a raccoon hat. I thought he was joking... but he was dead on serious. I did eventually find one on FormFonts.com It's not a model, but I find it really hard to find good 2D images of minorities (black, asian, middle eastern, etc.). Tommy L
HOTEL BEDS! And I dont mean that wrinkly "couldnt be arsed to make the bed this morning" bed with super thin silk sheets. I also dont mean a poofy "I own all of the middle east so I wipe my arse on $100 bills and I make my beds out of gold" bed either. I mean a high end hotel, folded by a military nurse yet looks real bed. With properly unwrapped and easily replaced textures. Doesnt need a headboard, doesnt need a frame or a box or a base. Or even a matress. I used to make my own with cloth modifier, I now have ONE good bed that I use for every hotel room I do. Sooner or later Ill get rumbled. Especially as I symmetry-ed it so it has two good sides... This would be nice: http://www.childmode.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Westin-Hotel-Room.jpg It even looks like a render, but Im pretty sure its photography. I went to 3dsky.com and thought that I've missed something haha
Chris MacDonald
Yeah 3dsky.org is where I've started getting a lot of my stuff, however I am finding sometimes the models are extremely high quality and other times not so much! There are sometimes missing maps, etc. If their quality control was to the same standard as model + model, or designconnected I'd be very happy indeed, though obviously there are difficulties in achieving that on a website based solely on user submissions, not modelled in-house. RyderSK
heh, that's 3dSky/3ddd for you :- ) It's like Thrift shop. Golden nuggets among heaps of trash. Some great modern brands spammed with tons of Eastern-european Baroque atrocity. I remember when I first became PRO member 2 years ago, I would go there daily for dose of excitment and lols. Like fishing. I was happy if I could download some really cool random model after going through pages, be it a sofa, faucet, anything. Have to renew my membership, too lazy to upload new stuff.
