alessandro.eu
Hi, I am almost new to After Effects and I would like to study it a bit better to compose animations for architecture. Main tasks I think would be: - compose real footage with movie generated in max - compose animations with graphics - add effects to animations generated in max At the beginning I thought to study also Matte Painting techniques but as I understood those can be usfull when the camera moves just a bit and mainly for landscapes. any suggestion will be appreciate, which tools you use and also references for tutorials and web sites. Devin Johnston
To your first point what you need to learn about is motion tracking and rotoscoping along with lighting techniques. There are tons of tutorials on youtube and other sites that will tell you everything you need to know on these subjects.
Ernest Burden III
You did say working with Max, but if you get the latest version of After Effects it comes with a companion version of Cinema4D. Have a look at that, perhaps, there is good integration.

Devin Johnston
Ernest is just pointing out that there are options out there other than Max and that C4D has a direct pipeline into AE.

Yes, and there is a version of Cinema that is included. I don't need it because I use the full C4D, but there is a function in AE to directly open projects in the included C4D portion. Info below. I apologize for going a little OT on the original question. http://www.maxon.net/products/cineware-cinema-4d-lite/overview.html
alessandro.eu
thank you Ernest, sorry I didn't understand if it is easier/better to use Cinema for those works, I read that Max had some improvements to integrate the workflow into After Effects but I was wondering if it worths to have a look to Cinema. sorry I'm just trying to understand what could be the most effective path to learn things
