thomasmoore
Hi, I'm having a problem creating sections in 3DS Max. When using the slice modifier i find that the lighting is also effected. When trying to use camera clipping planes i cannot get the necessary angle. My question is this... Is there some way of placing geometry that does not show in the render, but effects the shadows cast on the model?

Nicolai Bongard
You could try to right click on the object, object properties and look for "visible to camera" or "renderable", i cannot remember which one it is.

Visible to camera is what you need to adjust, this allows the object to cast shadows, but is invisible.
