Hi, our company name is SHANZI Digital which is located in Tianjin, China. We would

appreciate Jeff Mottle would give us this opportunity to show the process of our latest

commissioned work for the listed company Luoniushan in Hainan, China. The architect is Yin

Jinheng, who is from Tianjin University. The project is for a modern frozen storage which is part

of the industrial park in Sanya. These screenshots will show our process of modeling and

post-processing which are in 3dsmax with Vray, and Photoshop.

GAMMA SETUP

1.jpg

In common, we always start the work with Gamma 2.2 to ensure later renders will in a correct

level of illumination, which will also help us add the least amount of lights in 3dsmax.

MODELING

2.jpg

Provided with the architect’s 3d files and the other reference images, we began to model the base

building in 3dsmax with standard method.

At this step, we always divide the building in layers by different materials. It will be easy for us to

choose and adjust the parameters in later steps.

VEGETATION

5.jpg

6.jpg

For the vegetation and environment I used a famous plug-in Multiscatter. Thanks to the

Evermotion company’s product, we selected a kind of plant which is not so simple. Then we

scatter these grasses in the limited area at the right corner of this viewport.

Here are the multiscatter parameters.

MATERIAL & TEXTURES

7.jpg

With this special viewport we didn’t use many materials. Here you can check the detailed settings

in the screenshots below.

LIGHTING & ENVIRONMENT

8.jpg

In our regular rendering process, we’d like to vray default environment map which is connected to

the vray sun.

To light up the interior of this storage, we use vraylight with the parameters in this screenshot.
