M V
I am just starting to delve into the world of these T Pose characters and wondering if there was some quick and easy way to rig them without going through it manually. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.
Francisco Penaloza
I am sorry buddy but there is not a one click solution for this. When I bought those models I bough them already rigged because it is a long process and even that I always had to fix it because mesh problems or different scale issues and so. There is a few software that can do a sort of auto RIG, but not Max, I think Maya have something, Lightwave, I know Poser does but, they use their own models. For 3D Max you have to bite the bullet. You can do it quick for sure, when you get the hang of it, but how close the camera will be from the model will tell you how much work you'll need to spend in your rigging. Even in the Anima software the rigging is mediocre, and those zombie like animation are just too distracting. #d Max populate has better animation and rigs but the 3d models look very low quality, hope they fix this soon. Scott Schroeder
https://www.mixamo.com/fuse/ You get one free rig, that might not include custom models though, every so often. It's pretty decent. Rigging is easy. It's the skinning that is a pain in the arse. Luckily, there are some good free auto-skinning tools out there. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/auto-mesh-skinning Edited May 7, 2014 by VelvetElvis
Fr3Drick Law Olmstead
is a quick video on the 3ds Max 2015/Mixamo workflow by Autodesk's Gary Davis. I haven't had a chance to try it myself but it sure looks nice and simple. If using Maya is an option for you "The Setup Machine" by Anzovin Studio is a great tool. M V
So the short and skinny of it is to buy pre-rigged characters (like the ones on AXYZ) and not the T pose ones?
