My laptop is Dell Inspiron 1520 Core II duo with 2g ram Please guide me to the right way to render a high resolution picturemy client is waiting and donno what to do . Noise
There is alot that could be the problem so, in the absence of you providing detailed info on the process you have gone through and any screen grabs etc... I would suggest just rendering and saving out as 8bit tifs. Exclude saving as virmg files as it just adds to the complexity of the process especially when you have a deadline looming. I would assume that your laptop is buckling under the load generated by the size of the exr files as they tend to be quite big - but, I cannot be sure. Two questions; 1. Does your project absolutely have to be 32 bit and 2. Is the size of the render more than 5k pixels ?
RyderSK
The 2GB ram which is shared by Windows, Photoshop and 32bit hi-res file could play a role.
Morne Erasmus
...transfare it from virmg to exr and tried to open it with Photoshop CS6 that I bought yesterday and each time it gies me error in photoshop and it doesn't open (( 1) Make sure the vrimg file isnt corrupt in the 1st place. On the Max menu under "Rendering", go to "View Image File" and open the vrimg file. It may display darker than what you expect. If it doesnt open, chances are that the vrimg file is corrupt 2) How did you convert the vrimg file to exr? Did you manually type the parameters in a command prompt or do you have a script? Did you convert each channel to it's own exr file or did you create a multichannel exr file? If you don't need channels, then you can save directly to exr from the VFB. In the text box where you save the raw image file, just remove the .vrimg extension and replace it with .exr This will create a mutlichannel exr instead of a vrimg file. Note that you can't afterwards convert the vrimg file to exr by just changing the extension. If you are going to be using photoshop with various channels and exr and linear 32bit images a lot, then maybe it's a good idea to invest in ProEXR http://www.fnordware.com/ProEXR/ The plugin lets you open multichannel exr files directly without having to extract each channel sepreately. This plugin is already built into after affects, so maybe that could be a solution for you also. Also remember, like Juraj mentioned, your limited hardware may also be giving you issues depending on the filezise and resolution of your image. You may also want to switch OFF gpu acceleration in photoshop prior to opening a large file. Edited May 14, 2014 by Morne
