Hi

Can somebody please tell if it is possible to render out an old wall froma square cube witha bump map to give the right effect.

as iit will look like an old wall in real life.

The object still comes out square at the edges.

I have used the displacement map and the bump map channels and still I am not getting the required effect.

I have an old house to show renovated and need this effect to get it done.

Thank you all again in advance.

phil

ps how do I insert on image to this site I keep getting a hyper link.????

Hi

thanks for the replies.

Modeling the effect would take too much time and too much memory.

It will be one building on a site of with about 30 other and landscaping too.

Ordinarily I would give it a go, but I can't afford the time or memory.

I will have to wing it and have lots of lovely grass and people walking by , all stills of course.

Anyway.

Thanks aian, If I get it done to a point were I fel it is worth posting I will.

try achieving the effect in another app like after effects or photoshop (if your just using stills photoshop it)?

From a 11/03 post,

This can be a tutorial, but think of it as more of a demonstration. It's written for Painter 8, but any version will do. If you don't have Painter, you can download the tryout version and use that because P9 is virtually the same.

This paints a seamless concrete (or old wall) texture. It shows how you can use custom, texture oriented brushes along with Painter's ability to tile brush strokes to create truly seamless, textured surface materials like concrete, asphalt and woods both quickly and easily.

In this case, you can change the color settings and get that aged Tuscan villa look or most any other aggregate material used for exterior walls (aggregate's the right term I hope :)

Good luck,

Dennis
