Ideosfera
Hi All, Does anybody knows what is the ``bitmap error`` messege that appers when i try to render a 7200x4961 pixels image ? The file is an exterior architecture view with radiosity and it´s a heavy file, something about 350mb size... It was created in Max 5.0 version. The program only lets me render a 3000 pixel.. My machine is an AMD XP 2.4 with 1gb DDR 333 - Win 2000 updated. Thanks ! Daniel Lieber Ideosfera Computação Gráfica www.ideosfera.com.br
William Alexander
Daniel, I had a similar problem in Viz4. Everything was fine until doubling the output size. It ended up being the shadow map file size. However there was a statement before the final bitmap error. To the effect of shadow map file ...... out of memory. You should consider region rendering, that might help. rgrds wda
Iain Denby
I get this often. It's a memory problem with big render sizes. Save, close the program, re-open and try again. This solves it every time for me.

cgtiger
hello, yes the dudes are right, region render, there is a script actually called BIGRENDER allows you to render billboard size images, MASSIVE...basically it splits the image up into squares, and renders them individually, and you piece it back together, its for 3ds 5. and the reason why it said bitmap error, will have been you are asking your computer to do toooo much, 7200 is quite big, and i tested a image size and it was over 112mg, and with your computer rendering etc, it is too much for it too handle at once, cos you only have 1gig of ram also, which is not very much these days, sorry to say. hope that helps
