Devin Johnston
Has anyone gone through the certification process for 3D Studio, if you have was it worth it? http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=14238652
RyderSK
I am very sceptical who would this matter to in reality :- ) Same with the Vray's certification. It pretty much only proves you were able to replicate basic examples of most features in manual. On other hand I understand how magic papers can be of value to some. It's still mostly useless in archviz from my view. Slightly funny almost: Access and use the Autodesk Certified logo Display your Autodesk Certified certificate Powerful. John Dollus
From my understanding, this is only useful if you intend to teach at any of the for-profit education centers or work as/for a reseller. Both entities tend to demonstrate value with paperwork as opposed to showing a portfolio.

Scott Dombrowski
I am a 3ds Max 2012 Certified Associate and a 3ds Max 2012 Certified Professional in Surface and Look Development. I took the exams at AU 2011 and received the certificates as PDFs attached to an email from Autodesk. I had to print them out myself. I used the special card stock to give them the extra weight they deserved. I'm certain that everyone who stops by my desk to give me more work pauses for just a moment in awe of the sheer genius demonstrated not only in the knowledge those certificates represent, but in the artful way they are affixed to the fabric covered cubicle partition with mismatched thumb tacks. Perhaps they hold more weight at resellers or educational facilities, but as "the 3D guy" at my A/E firm, the most that those certificates have done is provide a small bit of self-affirmation that I know what I'm doing. Either that, or I just happen to test well.
Devin Johnston
Scott that's funny and sad at the same time but the point is well made, it seems being certified is about as useful as an inflatable dartboard.
Justin Hunt
many years ago, back when the software cost the same as a small countries GDP then the certification held a bit of meaning in getting a job. Companies were forking out a fortune, so they wanted to be sure they were hiring people who knew what they were doing from day 1. These days its not worth the paper the PDF is printed on.
