yp
I have an array of cylindrical lights hanging from a ceiling. Those lights are instances and should be randomly modified in scale on the z-axis. For the scaling itself I use transform randomizer (guess soulburnscripts) which works more than great. But the whole scaling proportion should be stronger in the center and less to the edge of area where the lights are distributed. I can use a scattering plugin for this defining the range of scale with a gradient mask- but is there a way to e.g. soft select objects? Means outer objects are less affected by the modifier than the inner ones. Vol. select modifier was not the right choice- it maybe would for soft selecting vertices but it's not possible for whole objects..
Morne Erasmus
Forest Pack can do this. It will do your random scale thing and you can also have it less or more towards the center The lite version should work fine as long as the part where the lights attached to the ceiling is at 1 level
yp
Yes, but only scaling accordingly to a map or completely randomly- but not in conjunction.. having a map and within the boundaries of that map a certain value of random scale (z only). yp
Well, I just made a composite map from a gradient and a fractal noise map. Does the trick too.

Good But coming back to Forest Pack, you can transform objects randomly in Z, and then in area you can set a falloff for the edges scale
yp
Sounds good, I'll have a look soon. But still- any idea about something like soft selection for objects? E.g. like an attractor which defines the amount of a modifier gizmo or other values?
