Zdravko Barisic
Ussually, when you use shape merge compound command, and then add edit poly modifier, and select F4, I got red marked selected polygones, which are made by the shape merging operation. And thats cool, and that what we need very often. BUT, sometimes, it does not happening! Selecting those polygones, would take a months.... So, how to be safe it will select those poligones? Zdravko Barisic
Hm, I found this http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/MAXScript-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-7894D0CE-D603-4ED9-895E-3A08FC5F393C.htm,topicNumber=d30e284836 .Output_Sub_Mesh_Selection Integer default: 0 Sets which selection level is output: 0- None (Outputs the full object.) 1- Vertex (Outputs the vertices defined by the spline of the shape.) 2- Edge (Outputs the edge of the merged shape.) 3- Face (Outputs the faces within the merged shape.) to paste into command line, or what? Corey Beaulieu
?? You are reading the scripting help menu.... These exist as options in the Shape Merge Modify Panel before selecting the shape to merge. Towards the bottom you can select the output selection type. Zdravko Barisic
Thanks....but still selecting the vertices, only, even if I click on faces before picking the spline. ... FINALLY: The shape is "damaged", it works fine with shapes made in MAX, but imported, this time, not. So, no solution, as I see, but to draw the shapes manually. THANKS! Corey Beaulieu
It cannot select verts only when you are selecting the face sub-element. If you need to switch from one to the other, then convert the selection and use the shrink button.
Zdravko Barisic
^ Yes, but it does not want to select faces, from some reason. I made brend new shape, and it works fine. But there a plenty of shapes to make, instead to use imported ones, from AutoCAD.
