Interior Design?

Recommended Posts

If I tried to design my own renderings I would not have a job!

My original path to this was actually through interior design/architecture. I never took any interior design classes, but I did learn a lot through work experience.

But really, if you are a renderer, your job is not to design anything. Its to take somebody elses design and make it look great. There are times when I do make some minor design decisions, but I could really care less about that.

Yup, I've got two degrees in architecture, but I am very happy to separate 'rendering professionally' from 'designing architecture/interior design'. I prefer everything to be spec'd before I begin and nothing left for me to think about, that way you can focus and not get caught up in whether you like it or not.

I have two degree in architecture and take an active role in the design process.

Working "in-house" usually means 3d is also used as a design tool as much as a presentation tool, so I get to use my architectural design backaground to enter into design discussions and be influential.

I think you should take the classes if you see your career going in the direction of working inside a architecture or interiors firm or think you can offer design as an additional service.

  • 3 months later...

Graphic lyceum -> academy of arts (design and publicity) 12 years experience as a freelance conceptmaker in advertising, making up rediculous stories and slogans, artpainter during my sparetime. Nope, no architectural degrees here, but autodidact, awareness for good composition, colours and how to play with moods (and clients:-).

i got a degree in architecture. working in a small company gives me a chance to render my own design as well as making the presentations. mostly my work is in for architecture but was given a chance to make interior design. i learned making interiors from work experience. :)

as for making interior renderings, the furnishing sometimes came from client's output but depends on how detailed they gave their preferences and for that, you can add some elements to make your image much better. some clients want to see our ideas in which given the opportunity to show off our design as well as our taste. :D
