Splitting geometry

Hey chaps,

On the image attached you can see the geometry I've got; all of that is a single editable poly. I have a site with levels that this all needs to be "dropped" on to. Does anybody know either a way to split out the geometry so that I can use a script/conform/something to drop the individual buildings onto the landscape, OR a way of doing it per element within the editable poly?

I don't really mind how it's done, just as long as it saves me having to go in and detach every single item.

Select all the vertices of the building/buildings that are going to be placed on the same height, turn on snap to vertex, constrain movement to up/down, then with all the verteces of the required buildings selected, click and drag one of the bottomn verteces down to a vertex on the landscape that is the required height. This should move all the buildings that you have selected down to that height, while leaving the other buildings inside the editable poly alone.
