fernando-1
I attached an ACAD object via Reference > Manage Links into Max . Is there a way to assign different materials to the faces of this object? It doesn't let me convert it into an Editable Poly as I usually do with Max objects. Are there any other ways? Thanks
jasonstewart
Add edit poly modifier then it will almost behave like editable poly.
fernando-1
Hi Jason, Thank you but after I do Add edit poly modifier Max does not allow me to reload after I edit in Acad the object.
jasonstewart
And now you have found the limitation of this workflow. I am not a ACad user but if you can split the faces for different materials in ACad instead that would allow you to retain the link and have the different materials once you link to max. Integration is not that great, this is why a lot of people model inside max instead of importing.
Zdravko Barisic
Can you break link with ACAD? You better import it via standard DWG/DXF import, than via linking.
