hoseinasadi
Im using vrayblend in order to mix a glass material with some dirt decals. I applied a decal map into diffuse Chanel for my glass material. the format for decal map is PNG. as shown in the image, the dirt part is fine, but the rest of the decal image which is transparent , shows as white color. how can i make the white part go away and transparent so it wont interfere with the rest of the glass? Stephen Thomas
For transparent materials I think you'd be better making a Vray blend material. Have your basic glass as your base material, then create the dirt material as a coat layer, no opacity. Use your opacity map in the blend amount slot instead. Stephen Thomas
Or is the problem just that you're not using a separate map for opacity for the decal in the first place and relying on the png alpha?
hoseinasadi
Or is the problem just that you're not using a separate map for opacity for the decal in the first place and relying on the png alpha? yea im actually relying on png alpha which is not working. i have a glass material as base, and a dirt decal map as coat and a vray dirt as blend amount. so how do i fix the white area problem? could you elaborate a little more ? hoseinasadi
one more question, i just noticed that the dirt is reflective as if it's behind the window, why is that?
Stephen Thomas
Probably best if you post a screenshot of your material setup. I recreated a simple version with just a grey material layered over a base glass material in vrayblendmat. Decal map used in blend slot, I also made the blend colour swatch black for areas not covered by the decal UVs. Seemed to work ok.

Tommy L
Is it just that your png stops? or does the map cover the entire piece of glass?
