Jon Berntsen
How do people her stand on the question on using the gallery image/project description for advertising your own business? Is it fine or not fine? I have seen it so many times, and I think it is rather unnecessary. The gallery start looking like a marketplace.
RyderSK
Don't see anything wrong with it, but what form do you have in mind exactly ? The "We are number one player in Beijing/London, please call for quote" instead of even giving name to image ? [with that said I don't think gallery doesn't have ton of issues, but was discussed quite a lot, not sure if to any result]
Jon Berntsen
I like the gallery too, it is nice. I didn't find many of them right now, of course, but I was thinking about the ones where you have a big sales pitch in the description text, with phone numbers and please call for quote. That gives it the only purpose to sell, not to share and inform about the architecture, techniques or general info about that specific piece. Scott Schroeder
Considering they have to pay to advertise here and it keeps it free for the rest of us (along with funding pretty much every awesome free thing CGA does), I don't think any of us should have issues with it. RyderSK
I understood it bit differently, Ads are those between images, I think he just mean people who post imagery and instead of description or even name just write very clique sales pitch. Justin Hunt
galleries have always been a form of marketing, here we tend to be a bit more subtle about it.
Jeff Mottle
For the record, I try to delete gallery posts that are only being posted for the purposes of being an ad for the company and not for the purposes of showcasing the image. I have very specific rules in the upload section where people submit images (not that anyone reads it).

Scott: Yep, sorry bad formulation, I didn't mean the typical ads, I meant using the forum as sole advertising.
