Guest dialog
Looking for the BEST way to export from Rhino to 3DS Max and what steps are needed in each software. Seems to be a lot of different opinions out there.
Chad Warner
Did you get anywhere with this? I'm looking for the same answer...I have a pretty complex boat modeled in Rhino that I need to get into Max as efficiently as possible.
Guest dialog
No did not. We imported a model and the edges are al messed up. Not sure if the student we had doing it even modelled it right in Rhino.
Corey Beaulieu
Export .SAT for the object with surfaces and then DWG for the line information. If you have overly curved objects, you should re-mesh them to a high number of polys in Rhino and then export. The import side is super straight forward. Just import it. http://wiki.mcneel.com/developer/scriptsamples/exportlayerobjects This script needs to be edited for .sat but it helps to export by layer and SAT maintains layer names. You can also add all layer files in the import dialogue.
